The great Germanic love goddess Freya rules over fortune, night, stars, and poetry—elements associated with the magical feminine. She is the highest and most powerful of all gods in her pantheon. Freya loves her two daughters and travels in a chariot pulled by two cats. Although she deeply loves her husband Odin, she is not strictly monogamous. Friday is named after her, and fish is still eaten on Fridays in her honor, as it is associated with the scent of the vulva. The German word for „woman,“ „Frau,“ is also derived from Freya, serving as a reminder that all women are goddesses.
